Do you collect anything?

I’m not really into anything like coins or knickknacks (unless hiking gear or athletic shoes count) but I do have a hefty collection of books!

What is your most unusual talent?

Contrary to the hot and dry desert that I live in, I actually really love ice climbing. I’m far from great and have a lot to learn but it’s a thrilling sport.

What is the scariest thing you have ever done?

A few years ago I decided to spend 6 months in India backpacking and learning to ice climb at 18,000 feet. Prior to that, I had never traveled out of the country or even hiked nay kind of real elevation in Arizona. It was the best decision I ever made, I was hooked.

Why do you like working with Gnarly?

I have been very health conscious most of my life (thanks to my mom). I eat very clean by choice but I am also allergic to quite a few things that are in many sports products such as dyes, gluten, and dairy. Gnarly, being so squeaky clean and delicious was the perfect fit! The Gnarly staff is so knowledgeable and I am very grateful to be apart of the team!

Outside of your respective sport, what are you most proud of?

This might sound silly, but I’m very proud of being completely debt-free. I paid off all my student loans and credit cards a while back and it feels great. On a more serious note, I am most proud of my family… We have been through hell and back together and they mean the world to me.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Sushi. Every. Single. Day.

Who is your hero? Why?

My youngest sister, Mae, passed away from brain cancer when I was in high school. She fought a very long battle and will forever be a source of strength for me. My mom has persevered through so much and is an amazing human being, they will both forever and always be my heroes.

Any advice for aspiring athletes?

Just get started and don’t stop! The most destructive thing you can do is doubt yourself- whatever you have been waiting to do until you feel “ready” there will never be a perfect time. Find someone who knows what they are doing and has the knowledge and resumes to back themselves up. Don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions before choosing a coach or a mentor.

I recommend…

At the top of my list would be the Performance Greens. I typically take them after dinner and I love the Blueberry Acai flavor. It has so many ingredients that I had been taking as singular supplements so it was a no-brainer way to consolidate. My go-to whether I’m out running the trails or in the gym is the Berry Lemonade BCAAs, I take them at any time but typically intra workout.
