While both magnesium citrate and magnesium glycinate are well-absorbed by the body and shown to elevate magnesium levels in the brain and muscles, magnesium glycinate is more likely to promote relaxation due to the presence of the amino acid glycine, a neurotransmitter that may promote calmness and stress reduction in the body. 

I eat a pretty balanced diet, do I need to supplement with magnesium?

The foods richest in magnesium include greens, seeds, nuts, beans and whole grains. If your diet includes daily servings of these types of foods then you may not need to supplement with magnesium. Athletes may require more magnesium as it is an electrolyte lost in sweat.

Great Value and Works Well

My doctor recommended magnesium at bedtime for sleep. After some research I learned glycinate was the best form of salt for sleeping. I’ve been taking two of these at night a few hours before bedtime and I sleep like a baby. Highly recommend.
