Q&A

Do you collect anything? I'm not particularly material motivated. I thrive on good memories and experiences. I suppose I do my best to collect images from all those times. What is your most unusual talent? I bend, not break. What is the scariest thing you have ever done? Loose grip on a tag line. I was following on a big wall. It blew about 30 feet to the side, completely out of reach. Thankfully I was able to retrieve it by traversing with a piece of old rope that happened to be at the belay I was at. Things would have been ok, my friend could have rappelled down to retrieve me, but it was eye opening and pretty scary how easily you can get stranded. Why do you like working with Gnarly? The team at Gnarly seems genuinely interested in my objectives and have been super helpful in suggesting what they think will be the best fuel and recovery. They also are extremely driven to always improve the product. Outside of your respective sport, what are you most proud of? I'm proud to have remained inspired by the outdoors despite the challenges I seek in climbing, to be outside will always make my day better. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Sushi... or soft serve ice cream. Who is your hero? Why? Daniel Woods, Dave Graham, and Josh Wharton. They're all unconditionally motivated in what they do despite the modern pressures for self promotion. For instance, if I don't see anything from Dave on Instagram for a few months, I still know for sure he's out there searching, cleaning and climbing new boulder problems. Same with Daniel, and Josh doesn't even have a phone that can load apps. That's inspiring to me. Any advice for aspiring athletes? Love what you do, challenge yourself, and share that with others. I recommend... Gnarly BCAAs - Because they fuel my workouts with energy that's not too intense but lasts for a while. Gnarly Whey Chiseled Chocolate - It tastes great and seems to work super effectively for recovery.
