This is a calorie and nutrient dense morning smoothie to fuel you from morning until mid-day. High in protein, carbs, and fats, this smoothie provides a great way to curb hunger and provide both fast and slow burning energy sources to fuel the first half of your day. The ingredients can always be played with to meet your calorie or macro goals, but this is a basic place to start. The recipe below is gluten and dairy free.
Why this recipe is good fuel:
Almond milk – good source of calcium
Berries – Simple carbohydrates, quick energy
Spinach – easy way to get in some greens while they taste like dessert
Almond butter – good source of fat and protein
Gnarly Vegan Vanilla Protein – Good source of protein, fat, fiber, and vitamins/minerals
Chia – Good source of omega 3 fatty acids
2 cups of almond milk, or your milk of choice. Water works too, but is slightly less smooth
As much spinach as you want to put in, we do about half a 8-9oz bag
2 cups mixed berries
4 scoops Vegan Vanilla Protein Powder
½ cup of almond butter, haven’t tried peanut butter.
2-3 Tbsp chia
2 Tbsp lemon juice
