Gnarly Fuel₂O is the in-motion energy source built for the long haul — big mountain days, century rides, and multi-hour efforts where staying fueled is the difference between a great day and a death march. It delivers fast-acting carbohydrate energy alongside electrolytes so you can sustain power output, mental focus, and forward momentum from start to finish.
During sustained endurance efforts lasting longer than 60–90 minutes, your body's stored glycogen — its primary fuel source — begins to deplete. Once glycogen runs low, performance drops sharply: power output decreases, perceived effort increases, and mental focus deteriorates. This is what endurance athletes call "the bonk," and Gnarly Fuel₂O is designed to prevent it.
Fuel₂O provides fast-absorbing carbohydrates that enter the bloodstream quickly, replenishing glycogen as it's burned and maintaining the steady energy supply your working muscles and brain depend on. Unlike solid foods, a liquid carbohydrate source is easier on the gut during high-intensity efforts and absorbs faster — critical when you're pushing hard and can't afford digestive slowdowns.
The added electrolyte component means you're not just fueling — you're hydrating simultaneously. Sodium in particular drives carbohydrate absorption at the gut level, making the combination of carbs and electrolytes more effective than either alone. The result is sustained power, sharper focus, and better endurance performance across long days in the mountains, multi-hour rides, and sustained-effort race days.
Mix 1–2 scoops with 16–20 oz of cold water per hour of sustained effort. Begin consuming 30–45 minutes into your activity — before you feel depleted.

Hydrate is formulated to replace what you lose when you sweat, namely water and electrolytes. It contains some sugar to help actively push water into your body, but it doesn’t contain enough sugar to be a significant contributor to caloric intake. Fuel₂O has an electrolyte profile similar to Hydrate, but contains additional carbohydrates for fuel as well as HMB to kickstart recovery.
Fuel₂O contains 25g of added sugar or 100 calories per serving. This may seem like a lot to some, but not when you're trying to fuel exercise lasting more than 90 minutes. The average person burns ~500-600 cals/hr when running and so to optimize performance and avoid ‘hitting the wall’ replacing these calories is paramount. Consuming 1-2 servings of Fuel₂O/hr when exercising can help replace the calories you burn while simultaneously replacing electrolytes.
Fuel₂O contains both sucrose and dextrose because these carbohydrates use different transport proteins to get from the gut into the blood. By using these two forms of carbohydrate and thus different transport proteins we are able to maximize the carbs/calories per serving of Fuel₂O while simultaneously minimizing the risk of gut distress.
HMB is a metabolite of the branched chain amino acid leucine, which helps to minimize muscle protein breakdown, resulting in a faster turnaround between hard training sessions and races. During periods of prolonged caloric deficit (like endurance races), muscle protein breakdown occurs and inevitably leads to DOMS or delayed onset muscle soreness. By including HMB in Fuel₂O, muscle protein breakdown and thus DOMS is reduced.
In Fuel₂O bags, 1 serving is equal to 2 tbsp. Fuel₂O stickpacks contain 2 servings of Fuel₂O, or the equivalency of 4 tbsp. We chose to include 2 servings of Fuel₂O in the stickpacks because this is the amount of product that most endurance athletes will consume hourly.
1 scoop/hr (½ stick) of Fuel₂O is ideal if your workout/event is of shorter duration (<90 min) or if you plan on getting calories from other sources during your day. 2 scoops/hr (1 stick) of Fuel₂O is a good place to start if your workout/event is >90 minutes and you're hoping to get a significant portion of your caloric intake from liquid calories.
