This spring, I’ve been dreaming big — about something that’s just for me. No strollers, no scooters, no snacks to pack. Just me, my mountain bike, a loaded frame bag, and a long dirt road leading to the base of a peak I’ve never climbed. A few days of self-supported riding, sleeping under the stars, and pushing my own limits. Not for a medal. Not for social media. Just because I want to. Because I’m still an athlete. Because I still crave adventure.

Planning something like this — while wrangling kids, training in the margins of the day, and making sure everyone’s socks match (most days) — takes its own kind of endurance.
